If there is one thing about me, it is that I don’t go into any relationship without knowing God’s peace in my heart. It doesn’t necessarily mean it will end well. Sometimes, it is a character development lesson you are given to learn for your next phase in life.

I got into a relationship with Prince, a sweet man, I must say. He was a peaceful man. If we argued, he would make sure it didn’t see the break of the next day. Even if I was feeling sleepy, he moved heaven and earth to make sure we sorted the issues out before we both went to sleep. If I needed money, I could go to him. I could trust him to mention my name in the place of prayer. He understood me when nobody else could. I felt he was mine, my future husband, until I started praying more about him and marriage and felt in my spirit that he wasn’t the man for me.

I wished I could lie and say I didn’t pray that God would make him mine. Whatever was blocking him from being mine, I prayed that God would remove it. But at last, I just had to heed the voice of God and, hesitantly, broke up with him.

I was sad. I was angry. At a point, I wanted to go back and turn deaf ears to God’s word, but my faith and fear of God just didn’t allow me.

I found Moses and got into a relationship with him. He was like an answered prayer, coming to heal me of the broken heart. He has been raising the issue of marriage despite our own convictions to take things slow. He even mentioned it himself, “I didn’t expect to like you that much to start talking about marriage.”

I didn’t hide my surprise at him either, because I didn’t think I would start liking someone this much this early and with this intensity. Anyway, my response to him was that, let’s see where God will take us.

I don’t know where God is taking us now. I was so sure of it until he revealed that he is a father. My ex before him was a baby daddy too. The similarity was too glaring, but I decided to pay no heed to it. I even said to myself, having a child doesn’t make him less of a man. It happens. We fall off God’s radar sometimes. It’s fine.

But it wasn’t really fine for me because I kept having a feeling that something was wrong somewhere. The storylines he narrated didn’t fall into place. He told me the story of how he got a girl pregnant, how it was a mistake and how it should have never happened.

Our relationship was slowly returning from the dungeons until I came across a post online. In the photo, it was captioned, “Mom, Dad and Daughter.” It was strange because after I came across the video, I received a friend request from his baby mama. She said she had been looking for me for a long time and needed to speak with me urgently.

We exchanged contacts and called. She asked what we were. I asked her to tell me what she thought and why she had been looking for me.

Everything he said about the child and his baby mama is a lie from the pit of hell. I was even crying on the phone, and she had to console me.

He knows I have been speaking with his baby mama. He has been texting and crying about it. He said that his story is true and that I should not let her come between us.

I don’t know how to do this. I want to break up with him. My heart and my head both want it. I just don’t know if I lack the words or the stomach for it. That is why I am here. I want advice on how to confront him, but first and foremost, how do I break up with him?
