My wife is currently eight months pregnant with what doctors call a geriatric pregnancy, a high-risk pregnancy because she is over 40, and this experience has really changed the way I see pregnancy and the incredible sacrifices women make to bring life into the world.
Her first trimester was absolute hell for me to witness, and if it was that difficult for me just watching from the outside, I cannot even begin to imagine what she was going through herself.

She is one of the strongest people I know; oh that woman. She is the kind of woman who stands firm no matter what life throws at her. I have watched her face challenges without complaining or giving up. In all the years I have known her, I have never seen anything break her spirit the way this pregnancy has.
That alone has taught me something important. Pregnancy is different for every woman. Just because one woman had an easy pregnancy does not mean another woman will. Every pregnancy is different, every body is different, and every experience deserves compassion instead of judgment.
So, it was honestly heartbreaking to see some women criticising the lady whose husband shared that they have been sleeping at the beach for months because that is the only place where his pregnant wife can finally get some sleep.
At one point, my wife had to be placed on life support for over a week. I walked those hospital corridors like a madman. Nothing made sense to me anymore. Every machine that beeped made my heart race. Every doctor who walked past me made me wonder whether they were coming to tell me good news or bad news. Those were some of the hardest days of my life, and they reminded me just how fragile and unpredictable pregnancy can be.
The man who shared that story said something that has stayed with me ever since. He said that if sleeping at the beach is what helps his wife sleep, then he is absolutely fine with it.
I smiled when I read that part because I understood exactly what he meant. I would do the same without thinking twice.
If my wife told me the baby sleeps better in the water itself, then that is where we would go. At the beach, I would pack the blankets, mosquito nets, insect repellent, snacks, and drive us there without a second thought.
If she wanted to sleep in the middle of a forest, I would pitch a tent and spend the night beside her.
I would not even be surprised if she woke me up one night and said, “The baby wants to sleep in a lion’s den.” After everything pregnancy has taught me, I have learned not to argue with a pregnant woman.
Would I be afraid? Of course. Would I still go? Without question.
I would only have to ask God to send one of His angels, preferably Angel Gabriel, to shut the mouths of the lions for one night so my wife and my baby could get the sleep they needed.
That is what love is.
Love is choosing each other when life is easy and even more when life is difficult. Love is standing beside the person you promised forever, even when the road becomes uncomfortable, exhausting, and uncertain. Love, at its core, is actually very simple.
Women, you are amazing.
What your bodies go through to bring life into this world is nothing short of a miracle. Please do not let anyone make you feel weak, dramatic, or difficult simply because they cannot understand an experience they will never have.
I honestly believe that if men were the ones chosen to carry pregnancies and bring children into this world, humanity would probably have gone extinct a long time ago. We would have formed support groups after the first trimester, written birth plans months in advance, complained every single day, and reminded everyone we met that we were carrying a baby. Yet women endure the pain, the discomfort, the fear, the sleepless nights, the endless changes to their bodies, and still somehow find the strength to keep going. That is a kind of strength I do not think many of us men truly appreciate until we witness it up close.
It may not be Mother’s Day, but the beautiful thing about life is that appreciation does not need a date on the calendar.
I Called My Girlfriend And Another Man Answered The Phone
So today, I celebrate every mother and every woman carrying life inside her. Thank you for nurturing us before we even take our first breath, for enduring pain most of us cannot imagine, and for showing us what true strength looks like.
You have my deepest respect and admiration.
