He gave me a lift one day and took my number. He would text to tell me he was leaving home so I would also leave and get to the junction just a few minutes before he did. Every morning, I went to work with him, and we talked throughout the afternoon.

He was very fun and a straight-to-the-point kind of guy, so I was wondering why he was taking his time to propose to me. Meanwhile, everything he did pointed to the fact that he liked me and wanted us to date.

One morning, he proposed while we were in the car. I asked, “You want me to believe a man like you doesn’t have any woman in his life?” He answered, “A woman? No, I’m single. My last relationship ended bitterly two years ago, so I’ve learned to wait for the right time.”

Just before I could ask my next question, his phone rang and it displayed on his car’s dashboard. The name that appeared was “Wifee.” He cut the call quickly, but I had already seen it. The number called again, and this time he said, “Oh, Mom, I will call you later,” and then cut the call again.

I asked, “You call your wife ‘Mom’?” He said, “Wife? That’s my mom. I call her ‘Wifee’ because she’s been the only woman who has truly loved me and cared for me like a wife.”

The call came a third time. I said, “Maybe your mom has something urgent to say. Please pick up.” He smiled sheepishly and then cut the call again.

We sat quietly until I got to my destination. He didn’t call throughout the day. The next morning, I waited for his usual text, but it didn’t come. I texted, “Are you coming?”

He had blocked me and had blocked my calls too. I haven’t seen him again since. Who knows, maybe his ‘mom’ locked him up so he wouldn’t have to go out and play with the heart of other women.

Men!
