My boyfriend has often been sceptical about my male friends because he thinks they all like me. I don’t know why he thinks that. I have not done anything to make him think otherwise. Besides, if I were doing that, do you think I’d tell him everything?

I tell him about new people I meet, who proposed to me, and what I’m doing. “Hey, babe, I just returned from work and I’m about to prepare dinner. Bae, that man I told you about, he said he likes me.”Then we’d laugh over it.

We’re in a long-distance relationship, and we’ve dated for four years. I love him so much more than words should say, and I don’t intend to hurt him in any way.

The story was posted here, and I received a lot of bashing. Names, I don’t seem fit. Most days, there are two sides to a story, and it is paramount that my side be heard. It is not fair that I get called cheap and he receives empathy.

What happened was I met this guy one evening when I was returning home from an errand. He spoke to me from his car and took my number. This new guy was insisting I meet him outside to talk, though it was past 10 p.m. I declined. I told my boyfriend about it, and we talked and even laughed it off.

“Some girlfriend, you want to use small minutes to take her,” he said. I responded, “Don’t mind him at all. The way I am, I’m even tired, ee.”

The guy is from Accra. He comes here for a day or two because of work, and he leaves back to Accra. The next day after meeting me, he left for Accra. Then, the next week, he told me he’d be returning to Takoradi for work and that he’d like us to hang out.

I’m currently not fully employed, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to hang out with him since I have nothing to do. I finished my chores and was just doomscrolling on the internet. A little outing wouldn’t be bad for the girl.

I informed my boyfriend about this hangout. He wasn’t happy about it. He’s never been fully happy with me hanging out with male friends, so I understood.

This new guy and I hung out, and he decided we’d go to the mall. On our way, he received a call and mentioned to me that his boss would like to have a meeting briefly with the staff, so he wouldn’t be long. He suggested I wait for him in his hotel room. He already had a hotel room booked because he had come here for work. He didn’t book the hotel like that, as the story published indicated.

I also suggested he leave me at the mall to wait for him because he said the meeting wouldn’t take long. He said he didn’t want me wandering at the mall like a ghost. He wouldn’t feel comfortable, so I should go wait for him at his hotel room.

I was jittery and anxious, thinking about what I had gotten myself into. He saw it and assured me he was not going to harm me. Even as a not-so-complete stranger, I felt a little safe and decided to take the risk.

When we got to the hotel, he just directed the receptionist to open the door for me. This guy did not come anywhere close to his hotel room. He just drove off to his meeting. I waited alone in the room. He wasn’t there. And when he returned, he sat in his car, called me, and directed me to lock the door and leave the key with the receptionist. The guy did not come anywhere close to the room I was waiting in.

I’m transparent with my boyfriend concerning what I do, especially because we’re in a long-distance relationship and I need him to trust me as much as I trust him. If he has trust issues, it’s all on him.

I’m not for the street, as some comments said. I’m a very decent and well-trained lady. This new guy is just a friend, and I never intend for our friendship to go any further than what it is. My boyfriend overthinks, and I’m very hurt that instead of letting tempers calm down so we could discuss this, he came here to broadcast it. Now, when you go through the comments, almost everyone is calling me names. Slut. Prostitute. All of it.

Did it excite him when he saw all those people calling me names? How did he feel? This one really takes the cake.
