About a week or so ago, my girlfriend called me from Togo, complaining that life was difficult over there. She wasn’t happy and wanted to return home to Ghana. She had barely spent two months over there, having travelled there in September.

The transport fare back to Accra is GH₵180. I didn’t have the money at the time, so I asked her to be patient and give me until today, Tuesday, to send her the money so she could return home to my arms.

I have a fake Facebook account that I use from time to time to check up on her. I have disguised myself as a woman and successfully gained my girlfriend’s trust by telling her I am a good friend of her boyfriend. This way, she is able to talk to me anytime, anyhow, without knowing who I really am.

A day after we agreed that she was returning home, she sent a message to the fake account. She texted, “I have planned on returning to Accra, but I don’t have money. I don’t really like asking your friend for money too oo, so I’d wait till I get money to return home.”

That was what got me vexed. Why would she say something like that? For what reason? I had already told her I would give her the money.

Does this mean I’m not enough for her? Is she not content with me, or is she doing things behind my back that I don’t know about?

I always do what I say I will do. If I tell her I’ll give her money on Tuesday, I’ll give it to her. She knows that about me.

Am I overthinking things, or is she not being truthful with me? I plan to confront her when she comes back home. What do you guys think?
