My girlfriend’s best friend came crying to me that my girlfriend had been “knacking” her boyfriend. This girl was so devastated she was shaking. I didn’t believe it, so I put my girlfriend on the phone and asked her. On loudspeaker, she answered, “And so what? Ask her if she didn’t do the same with my father and later deny it. She thinks I don’t know?”

It turned into a huge argument on the phone while I stayed in the middle, forgetting I should be hurt. My girlfriend was shouting, “I can send you screenshots!” The girl shouted back, “Ask your dad what he told me!”

They fought for several minutes on my phone while I swung from “She’s lying” to “Oh, she’s telling the truth.” It was clear my girlfriend’s best friend indeed did it. I asked my girlfriend, “So you cheated on me just to get at your friend?” She responded, “And so what? Mtcheew,” and then cut the call.

The fact that she cheated on me felt insignificant compared to what I heard them say. I’m still shocked! If my girlfriend could stay friends with her own friend just to pull such a revenge, then what would become of me if I err against her?

I didn’t pursue her again or even call to ask why. We ended that very day, but anytime I see her father, I judge him in my head—because why not? He’s too old and has been married long enough to know he shouldn’t mess around with his daughter’s friend.
