Please tell me I’m not overthinking this because I can’t understand my husband’s behavior for the past few days.

We have a one-year-old child, and since the child came along, intimacy has become few and far between. The fault is mine. I’m no longer at the place I used to be before the child came along. I’ve explained that to him, and I thought he understood me.

It’s not totally non-existent. Some nights we try to get something going, but as I said, I struggle, so I say no to him often.

Days ago, the baby was sleeping while I was in the kitchen cooking. I was about to slice a cucumber when suddenly I heard a shrill cry from the room. I quickly rushed in to see what was wrong with the baby. I lay beside him and put the breast in his mouth to put him back to sleep again.

Then I realized that, out of haste, I had entered the bedroom with the cucumber. It was in my hand while I was feeding the baby. He was slowly dozing off, and that gave me hope that I would be back in the kitchen anytime soon.

Then my husband entered, greeted, and began walking to the wardrobe. Then he suddenly turned back to look at me. The way he looked at me was very suspicious, so I started explaining how come I had the cucumber in my hand in bed.

He turned away and said nothing.

The baby slept, and I went back to the kitchen to continue cooking. From that day, my husband has been acting funny. He doesn’t give me straight answers or look at me with a straight face. He comes home wearing a frown or looking indifferent. I first thought it was something from his job until I thought about it deeply and realized the whole thing started after the cucumber incident.

I’ve asked him what the issue is, and he tells me he’s fine. Just last night, I made an attempt, and he shoved me off. Shoving someone off is my job. Why is he taking over? I don’t want to believe it’s the cucumber, but that’s the only thing that comes to mind when I think about what I might have done wrong.

Do you think asking him about the cucumber will make him believe that indeed that was what happened? Also, I ended up cooking with the same cucumber after everything, and he didn’t say anything. Don’t you think if he suspected anything, he would have asked me not to cook with it?
