My parents were young lovers who thought they were going to spend the rest of their lives together. Then my dad got the opportunity to travel to Canada. They made a lot of promises to each other.
“I will contact you when I get there,” my dad said.
“I will wait for you,” my mum promised.
“No matter what happens, I will find my way back to you, and I will make sure you will join me there,” my dad assured her.

Little did they know that their love had borne fruit.
As life had already orchestrated, they lost touch when he got there. In a matter of weeks, the fruit of their love became manifest. According to the story my mother told me, she was so terrified when she found out she was pregnant with me. The fact that the man responsible for the pregnancy was literally gone with the wind did not help. How would she tell him? How is she going to do it all alone?
Luckily, she didn’t have to do it all alone. She met an amazing man who fell in love with her and married her. This man raised me with all the love of a father who sired a child. Growing up I didn’t know that he was not my biological father.
He took good care of me. I don’t remember a time when I lacked anything. God bless him for his amazing selfless sacrifices. I am the woman I am today because of guidance, discipline, and love.
It was in 2012 that the dynamics of our family changed. My biological father returned to Ghana from Canada and, by some means, found out about my existence. He didn’t waste time. He came looking for me immediately.
The reunion was not dramatic. My stepdad, whom I knew as my biological father all my life, did not get angry or feel like he was going to be replaced. He is good friends with my biological dad as I share this story. My mum wasn’t bitter about the fact that my dad had not been in touch with her for all those years. As for me, I was more than happy to enjoy the love of two fathers.
I got to know my biological dad and spent time with him. Everyone agreed that I should move in with him to catch up on lost time. So that’s what I did. I lived in his house till I got married eight years ago.
She Would Introduce Me To Rich Men Who’ll Give Me Money
On my wedding day, both fathers agreed that my biological father should stand in ceremonially at the traditional wedding and collect my dowry. When it was time for the church wedding, it was my stepdad who walked me up the aisle and handed me over to my husband.
Yesterday was Father’s Day, and like every Father’s Day for the past few years, I was blessed to celebrate three amazing men in my life: my two awesome fathers and my amazing husband. I am always grateful to God for filling my life with such overwhelming love by giving me good men to protect and cherish me.
