He Wants to Date Me but Has Never Paid My Trotro Fare

We met in a trotro one early morning when I was going to work. He sat next to me, and his fragrance engulfed me. He was well dressed in a white shirt with a red tie to match. He asked where I worked, and I told him. The conversation started from there. He said he worked in a bank and told me the branch of the bank. I also told him where I worked and the name of my company.

When I was about to alight, he asked for my number, and I gave it to him. He called when he got to the office and called again in the afternoon. In the evening, we were on the phone for eternity. The vibe was good, and I was thinking he was someone I could start something with.

The next morning, we planned to meet at the station again, and the next one too. Less than a week after we’d met, he proposed. As expected, I asked him to give me some time to think about it, and I’ve been thinking about it since that day.

He ticks all the boxes but one. He dresses well, has a job I consider good, sounds ambitious and all that, but ever since we met and have been taking a trotro to work together, he hasn’t, for once, suggested paying my fare for me. I have paid for him once just to see if he would reciprocate. That never happened.

I alight before him, so when the mate asks for the fare, he would tell the mate to be patient and that he would pay along the way. And then he would watch me pay my fare and collect my change. We’ve been going to work together more often than not, and he hasn’t attempted even once.

Because of that, I haven’t shown him where I live, though he has shown me where he lives, and it’s not far from where I live.

Should I overlook this and say yes to him? Isn’t he being stingy too soon? The fare is not even up to GHC10, and he hasn’t made any attempt. Does this man look like someone who’ll attempt to pay a bride price?
