I went on a date with him, and when the bill arrived, I made an attempt to pay since I was the one who called for the date and even chose the place. He raised his hand and said, “No, I will pay.”

I said thank you and put my purse down. When he looked at the amount on the receipt, his facial expression changed. He took out his phone and asked for a MoMo number to pay to. Right after he paid, he said we should go.

On our way, he asked me, “Are you sure you wanted to pay?”

I answered, “Why not? I was ready to pay.”

Then he said, “So why didn’t you go ahead and pay even when I said I would pay?”

I responded, “You said you would pay, and I let you. What did you expect me to do?”

He went quiet for a while and said, “You just didn’t want to pay. If you really meant to pay, you would have insisted on paying. But once I said I would pay, you put your purse down without any insistence.”

What he said was funny and annoying at the same time. So I asked, “Do you want me to refund you? Just say it, and I will do it.”

He responded feebly, “That’s not what I’m talking about.”

I took out my phone and sent him the money through MoMo. He looked at his phone, saw the amount, and said, “Thank you. Or it’s not coming from your heart?” I responded in my head, “It’s rather coming from my intestines.”

This is a guy who had proposed to me weeks ago, and I said I was thinking about it.

When he got home, he texted that he was home and said, “I thought you asked for a date to accept my proposal. So what was the date for?”

I responded, “Thank God you’re home safe.”

I didn’t say another word, though he was trying to chat. I woke up in the morning, and he had texted, “Are you ignoring me because of the MoMo you sent me? I can send it back if you want me to.”

I just blocked him and went on with my life. He’s sending plenty of messages on Facebook Messenger. I haven’t bothered to read any of them. Obviously, he’s not the kind of man I want in my life, and I’d better not waste time on him.
