My girlfriend is a single mother, and I am a single father too. We have been dating for almost three years now.

I have been trying my best in this relationship. I don’t earn six figures or five figures, but I am the kind of man who always makes sure his woman is okay. I even found it very difficult to say no whenever she asks me for something. Even when I did not have the money, I could go to the point of begging to get her the money.

I love her child too like he belonged to me. I provide for him too. Some days, I will do more than half of what I am supposed to do just to ensure he was well catered for.

I have responsibilities towards my own child elsewhere too. But because I am in love, I will do anything. Many times, I shouldn’t give them money because I didn’t have anything, but I would still find a way to give her money for her hair and money to pay her child’s fees.

When we argue and she is clearly wrong, I would still apologise to her for making her angry at me. I reached the point where I started feeling like she was the man in the relationship and I was the woman.

I got fed up many days and decided to make a decision not to provide for them, but before I even realised it, I would have done exactly what she wanted, and she would be happy.

She stopped wearing waist beads for some time, and I complained about it. Her response was that maybe she wasn’t comfortable wearing them anymore. Fine, I didn’t push it.

She was staying at my end for a while because it was close to work, but moved back to her place and returned after a month.

When she was here, all she had to say was, “When you go to town, I want this,” or “Give me this and that,” and I couldn’t say no.

The problem is that she didn’t support me in the same way.

Sometimes, before she even wakes up, I would have washed clothes, including hers, and prepared something nice for her. I am not lazy, and I actually enjoy doing these things because she comes home late from work, so I wanted to make life easier for her.

Now, this is where the problem comes in. When she moved back, she came with waist beads. I hadn’t seen them before, but she said that she had always had them.

Those beads were really attractive. Anytime I saw them around her waist, I would feel like touching them, but she wouldn’t allow me unless she felt okay with it. Then she would say, “Okay, come and touch and feel it.”

When she wore the beads, we wouldn’t fight. We would just be happy couples, but as soon as she removed them, it was a cat-and-mouse fight at home.

The last time I saw her wear them, she brought a long list of items for me to buy for her. I bought everything but one. I put a hold on it.

It has been close to a month now, and she has no beads on her waist. And we are back to fighting each other like enemies.

We don’t talk to each other. Even if I try, I receive cheeky answers, so I don’t even try.

So I have been trying hard to mind my own business and find a way to better my finances. I will work, get paid, but right in front of me, the money will vanish. I will do budgeting but still be left wondering where the money went. So I decided to look for help somewhere.

Brothers and sisters, things are really happening.

I haven’t slept properly for days because I have been thinking about what was revealed.

The man I met said her friend took her to see someone, and the person gave her those beads. He said that the charm was perfectly crafted with me in mind. That I would jump at her every whim and dance to her tunes. He even said that soon she would end things with me. That part didn’t shock me.

The things I did for her are what are shocking me. I have been asking myself how I allowed myself to spend that ridiculous amount of money when I have my child there, when I could have invested it elsewhere.

I don’t know what will happen from here.

If she eventually leaves, I know I will be deeply hurt. But at this point, I can only accept whatever happens. But let’s be careful out here. It is muddy in the dating scene.
