I am a very troubled pregnant woman. I have been married for barely six months now. A few weeks into the pregnancy, my husband turned cold towards intimacy, and that has become my problem because my husband loves it and has a very high sex drive.
Before we started dating, I had made a decision to abstain from sex until marriage because of some unpleasant experiences I had with men growing up. I explained this to him at the beginning of our relationship, and he agreed to respect my decision. Unfortunately, things changed along the way. He became increasingly difficult and demanding as I refused to give in to his sexual advances.
This went on for a long time, which led him to cheat on me. I knew he was cheating, but I couldn’t confront him because I didn’t particularly have evidence; if I raised my suspicions, he only denied them.

A few months before our wedding, I decided to cancel it because of the mounting pressure on me to open my legs for him, and because I wouldn’t, he would maltreat me and speak to me harshly. I told myself, I won’t always be in the mood for it even when we marry; if this is how he’d behave if we marry, then I had better leave now.
He started behaving better when I made that decision, as if he were in my head and knew what I was planning. He didn’t only beg; he called us to pray every now and then and even booked a counselling session so we could work things out.
What eventually softened my heart was the involvement of his mother. I have so much love and respect for her, and when he asked her to plead with me on his behalf, I found it difficult to turn him down.
Since we got married, I have tried my best to make him happy, especially when it comes to our sex life. He watches a lot of pornography and sometimes wants us to recreate the things he watches.
I don’t necessarily have a problem with experimenting, so I have tried to accommodate his interests. In fact, I started having sex with him a few months before our wedding, and I made a conscious effort to satisfy his sexual needs.
He has a special name for me, “special ashiawo”, but despite everything I do, he still complains that I am unable to satisfy him. We have tried different styles and experimented in places I never imagined I would. Some of these things are outside my comfort zone, but I go along with them because I want him to be happy and enjoy our marriage.
Now, tables have turned, and I am now the one who constantly initiates intimacy. I make an attempt to get close to him, and he behaves as though I am forcing him to do something he doesn’t want to do. This is particularly confusing because he used to be the one constantly demanding sex when we were dating.
Now that we are married and expecting our first child, I don’t understand why he has suddenly lost interest.
I have also started questioning the kind of marriage I have entered. It is not as though he takes care of most of my needs financially or helps with household responsibilities as much as I would expect from a husband. I contribute to our needs and do my part, yet I still find myself going out of my way to please him sexually, without receiving the affection and consideration I desire in return.
Has he lost interest in me because I am pregnant now, or is there a problem that he isn’t telling me? I don’t know if he is struggling with something, comparing me to the women he watches in pornography, or no longer attracted to me.
I feel emotionally exhausted because I have spent so much time trying to be the wife he wants, even when it meant doing things I wasn’t entirely comfortable with. I thought getting married would finally give us the opportunity to enjoy the kind of love and intimacy we had both talked about, but things seem to be getting worse.
If you ask me, I wish I had stood my ground and walked away when I first decided to end the relationship. Perhaps I ignored too many warning signs because I was blinded by hope. I love my husband, and I don’t want my marriage to fail, especially now that we are expecting a child. But I also don’t want to spend the rest of my life feeling unwanted, unappreciated, and inadequate.
What Caused The Breakup Between You And Your Ex?
I am overwhelmed and honestly don’t know what to do anymore. Why would a man who once pressured his girlfriend for sex suddenly become uninterested in his wife? Could my pregnancy have something to do with it, or is there a deeper problem in our marriage? How do I get him to open up about what has changed without making him feel attacked? I would appreciate advice from people who have experienced something similar.
