I met Junior when I first moved out of my father’s house. He was one of the tenants there. There were three of us upstairs, and the third tenant was also a guy. We formed a very close bond, so much so that they sometimes gave me money to cook for them. Both men started showing interest in me, but I found myself more attracted to Junior. We started having more conversations and spending more time together. He proposed, and we became lovers.
But I was not fully into the relationship because my instincts kept telling me something was wrong. He would call me at 6 p.m. to say he had closed from work and was on his way home, only to arrive at midnight. This made me suspicious, so I decided to pay closer attention to his movements. He always managed to sweet-talk his way out of it. He’s an Ashanti man, and you can imagine the kind of sweet tongue he has. I kept believing him until I eventually grew tired of his schemes and ended the relationship.

I demoted him from boyfriend to friend with benefits because I didn’t have anyone else, and the body isn’t exactly firewood. I moved out and rented a place elsewhere, but we still met, had our fun, and went our separate ways. Meanwhile, he was still singing in my ears about how much he wanted me and how he wished we could be together again.
However, whenever I looked at him, I didn’t see much evidence that he had changed. I still had my reservations about him, so I continued keeping him in the friend-with-benefits zone.
But two years later, we got back into a relationship. Someone I revere so much begged that I give him another chance instead of closing that chapter. I assumed that since he had gone to that length, he was serious about me. So, I decided to give the relationship another chance. Throughout the years we had been friends with benefits, I had never gotten pregnant. But guess what? When we got back together, somehow, in between, I let my guard down, so I fell pregnant.
Junior was extremely happy. He wouldn’t stop making plans for the baby and our future. It was always, “We will do this, we must do that, we should do this.” We were a team. Then, barely a month later, he walked into my room and asked me to terminate the pregnancy
I was shocked. What surprised me even more was that he couldn’t give me any tangible reason for his sudden change of heart. After telling me his decision, he disappeared from my life.
I woke up every morning and went to bed every night hoping to receive a message from Junior, but nothing came. Truthfully, I couldn’t afford to keep the pregnancy either. My finances and capacity at the time were not enough to take care of a baby. So, I gathered every pesewa I had and went to the hospital for a termination. They gave me a drug. I bled heavily, alone in my room, and he was there and still hadn’t responded to any of my messages.
But Junior returned. He came to me on his knees, with tears in his eyes, begging me to forgive him for abandoning me when I needed him most. And it would shock you that I lifted him up, gave him a big hug, and said, “I forgive you.”
He became sweet and loving again until I caught a glimpse of his messages with some girl. Their conversations were very romantic, and they were always talking. He denied having any interest in the girl. He even claimed that the girl was the one who wanted him, not the other way around.
He dared me to call the girl and confirm everything for myself. So I did.
Unfortunately for him, the girl confirmed that they had actually been dating for a year! We planned to meet at his house, but when he saw her, he ran away. We were in his room, still talking, when he returned and told the girl, right in front of me, that he had made a decision and that it was her, not me, that he wanted. She took her bags and walked out without saying anything, but he ran after her, begging her to stay. All this while, I was still standing there. It hurt thinking about it, but it does not amount to what I am going through now.
Remember the termination? I went for a scan a day after that drama to find out if everything was okay, but they said the termination was incomplete, and it isn’t a good thing for my health.
Honestly, I haven’t been able to get back on my feet since everything happened. I used the last money I had to terminate the pregnancy, and now I have been told that there is still tissue remaining in my womb. I am beginning to experience pains, yet Junior is busy enjoying his relationship with another woman. Junior didn’t care when I texted to tell him.
What Caused The Breakup Between You And Your Ex?
I really don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t want to forgive him for what he has put me through. Part of me wants to deal with him and make him pay for everything, but right now, my biggest concern is getting the remaining tissue out of my body.
How am I going to do this? I honestly don’t know where to begin or how I will afford the treatment. I am hurt, abandoned, and struggling to put my life back together. I just want to be okay again. How do I move on from all this? And how do I ever forgive someone who abandoned me when I needed him the most?
