There are new tenants in the house I live in, two young ladies who look like students. They are so noisy and loud they annoy the hell out of me sometimes. At dawn, around 5am, these ladies would play loud gospel music and pray loudly as if they were at a gospel crusade. I share a wall with them. I should share a kitchen with them too but I don’t cook so I’ve left the kitchen to them.

Not long ago, I found something very suspicious. You won’t see them or hear much about them during the evening. One will come in with a guy and later leave with him. Soon, the next one will also come with another guy and later leave with him. I thought it was their way of existing so that they both could have time with their boyfriends without the interference of the other.

Until I realized that the men kept changing. Short and stout today. Tall and muscular tomorrow. “Are these girls cheating on their men?” I asked myself.

No they weren’t actually cheating. From everything I’ve gathered and the uncontested evidence I have on my table, these girls are into hookup. It was hard reaching this conclusion because of how they sang and prayed at dawn but all these men didn’t come from God. After a successful night duty, they meet and pray and then sleep all day until they would wake up again to resume work.

I feel I’m in danger. I’m the only tenant here with them. If one day their business goes wrong, I’m the one to bear the consequences. The way my room is next to theirs and the fact that we share a kitchen, you might even think I’m an accomplice. I want to bring the landlord into this so he will kick them out. On the other side, I feel I should mind my business and live and let them live.

What would I gain if they are kicked out today knowing how hard it is to find a place in Accra. I’m conflicted somehow. I want to play the devil but the God in me keeps telling me, “Report them so they are kicked out.” What do you say? Report them?
