I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either way I turn, I know I’m going to hurt. If I hold on to this man, my heart will end up completely shattered. If I leave, I might feel like I’m losing my mind for a while, but at least he won’t be my burden to carry anymore. Before I make my final decision, though, I really need to ask a vital question.

For those of you in relationships, how often do you actually talk to your partner? Should it be every single day, or just whenever you feel like it?

I’ve been in a relationship for two years, but I’m completely exhausted and drained. This guy constantly tells me he’s busy. We barely speak at all. He can easily go a week, a full month, or even longer without giving me a simple call, and he acts like there is nothing wrong with that.

Whenever I complain, he turns it back on me. He says I’m impatient, that I don’t understand him, and that I’m just bothering him. He uses his job as a mining engineer as an excuse for everything. Yet, the moment he wants sex, he suddenly finds the time to call and ask me to meet up. As soon as that’s over, he disappears again.

I’ve brought this up so many times, but he simply doesn’t care. Nothing ever changes. Am I really overreacting for wanting basic communication, or is it time for me to pack up and move on? He doesn’t do anything for me either. We’re just floating along, barely talking.

Please give me your honest advice, even if you have to be harsh so I finally get the motivation to let go. I am hurting, and he couldn’t care less. His only excuse is that he’s a busy person, that this is just his nature, and that he doesn’t have time to entertain a partner when he’s in a relationship.
