I wrote WASSCE two times before I got the chance to see what a university looked like. Once in 2015, once in 2017. Grit, strength, and takashi took me there. I studied Geography and Sociology.
Before I entered university in 2017, I had already started working at a 5 star hotel as a waiter. I was good at the job. The HR and management liked my work so much that even during vacations they were always waiting for me to come back. There was room for improvement there, so I stayed.

During my National Service, the organisation retained me. But the job required us to relocate to the northern part of Ghana, to Wa and Bolgatanga. Unfortunately, accommodation and other incentives were not provided. Looking at the salary, I did not think the move was worth the risk at the time.
I sometimes wonder if that was one of the decisions that affected my career.
I left the hotel for reasons I would rather keep private. Later, I got another job as a Cashier and Accounts and Finance Support in a restaurant.
I have gained experience. I have learned how to work with people, handle money, deal with customers, and function in a professional environment.
But there is a problem.
I do not feel fulfilled. I constantly find myself asking, what is next? There are days when I feel like quitting my job because I feel like I am not progressing. I sometimes feel useless when it comes to money and where I am financially.
People who see me from the outside probably think I have everything figured out. I dress well. I work. I take care of myself. I do not necessarily look like someone struggling.
But internally, I feel like I am behind.
Financially, I do not have much, although I am not completely struggling either. I am okay. But I know I want more from my life.
I do not want to wake up at 40 and realise that I spent my 30s simply moving from one job to another without building a proper career.
So now I am seriously thinking about going back to school. Maybe a Master’s degree. Maybe a professional course. Maybe I should change industries completely.
I have been considering areas like Logistics and Supply Chain because of my Geography background. But I am still trying to figure out whether that is actually the right path for me.
And that is where I am stuck.
I have work experience. I have a university degree. I am still relatively young. I am willing to learn and work hard. But I do not know which direction to take.
Should I pursue a Master’s degree? Should I get professional certifications instead? Should I stay in hospitality and try to move into management? Should I move into Logistics and Supply Chain? Should I take a completely different route? Or should I stop thinking about school and focus on building a business?
I am sharing this because I genuinely want people’s honest opinions, not sympathy. If you were in my position, what would you do?
Who Would You Choose, A Rich Man Or A Man Who’s Good In Bed?
Would you consider my current experience an advantage, or would you say I have already spent too much time in the wrong field?
And for those who have been in a similar position in their late 20s or early 30s, what decision changed the direction of your life?
Also, I think I need a mentor. No, I need a mentor.
What do you think my next move should be?

Dear King,
When you said, ” But internally, I feel like I am behind” Please let me ask. You are behind who? This statement is the catalyst for anxiety, depression and taking decisions that may not end you well. I understand your feeling. Its normal for those who are ambitious and feel they have a lot to offer in life. Also, no one cares and thinks about you like that.
Firstly, erase all the negatives self thought and replace it with positive self affirmations. Continue saying it for as long as you can say it. Also, rethink and re evaluate your life outside of the negative thought. Seek mentorship. Research on mentors, do the necessary processing and intelligently approach them; whether in their office, after meeting, church, gym, etc. Seek their professional advice after sharing some info about yourself. Usually when things go well, these relationships are grear and works well. Sound intelligent, hungry to learn and succeed and God’s grace dey give you. Read books too. Everything changes with knowledge. These may take days, weeks or months but it’s worth it. YOU ARE NOT BEHIND AND YOU WILL MAKE IT. JUST STAY HUNGRY. Blessings🙏
Thanks for advising him. I agree 💯 with what you said
I think you are not in the wrong field, you say now you have experiance in cashier, finanace and financial support, so you can charter or do MBA with your experience. You are building a carrier in this field what you do not have is certificate to support it, so get it, in the logistics and supply chain i think it would be a totally new area so chart your carrier parh in Business and Finance
