He was a married man who was kind to me where I was working. He would go on break and buy me food. He would sometimes take me out to get the food for me. When he had time, he would drive me home after work and stick around for a while.
I saw it when the love was growing, but I didn’t think much of it. One day after work, the weather changed. He offered to take me home, and while we were on the way, it started raining. It was raining so heavily that he couldn’t see the road properly. He said he was scared of falling into a gutter, so he stopped at the side of the road and waited for the rain to calm down.

While we waited in the car, he ran his hand along my thigh, and things became intimate between us. When the rain finally reduced, he drove me home, stayed with me, and we ended up sleeping together in my room. I’m not saying this as a proud woman who had an affair with a married man. I’m sharing my story with all honesty to get the weight off my chest.
After that night, we realised we had something we had to keep secret from others. We didn’t talk often at work. Even when he agreed to take me home, I had to meet him at a corner where no one would see us go together. He didn’t paint a picture of a bad home. His wife would call him while he was with me, and they would have sweet conversations. Sometimes, I was jealous, but I kept it inside me.
One day, we had a seminar at work, so we didn’t close early. Around 5 p.m., he called to tell me he was leaving. Our office is a tall storey building, and the training was happening on the top floor. I could see his car parked at the corner where he usually picked me up when he didn’t want anyone to see.
I wanted to call and ask if he was waiting for me, but then something told me to just watch what would happen. And then I saw our HR walking majestically to the car, and a few seconds later, he drove off.
Both of them were my superiors, so I had to handle the issue with care. I asked him the next day if he had something to do with anyone in the office, and he swore heaven and earth that there was nothing going on. So anytime he told me he was leaving early, I would go to the top floor and watch to see if he was indeed leaving.
I saw one national service lady join him there. I saw the sales head join him another day, and then one time, I saw Madam Operations join him. My heart started running wild. This woman was married, and I heard her husband used to work in the company until he resigned. I didn’t want to believe something was going on between them.
While looking at all these ladies join him, I withdrew a little bit. He would call and ask me to go home with him, and I would say no. One evening, he came to my house. He didn’t understand why I was avoiding him. He tried to hug me, and I pushed him away. I told him he was a married man and I wanted to withdraw because my conscience was pricking me.
This man said he loved me more than he loved himself and would give everything to have me be with him. He even pretended to cry, begging me not to leave him. He left GHC2,000 on my sofa before he left. The next weekend, he was travelling, and he asked me to go with him. I did.
While he had drunk something and was snoring, I opened his phone with his fingerprints. He had slept with everyone I saw join him. Madam Operations had been exchanging nudes with him. They had a special name they called their respective spouses.
When we returned, I told him what I had found. I told him all the times I’d seen him pick office ladies from the same spot where he picked me from. I mentioned all the names, and he couldn’t even deny it. And then he said, “I’m a monster, but you’re the only person who can change me. Please don’t leave me.”
While we were arguing about me leaving him, one morning, a call came through, and it was his wife. This woman was so angry she wouldn’t let me talk.
“Young lady, I know where you are. If you don’t leave my husband alone, I will visit you with terrible men to do things to you. This is the reason why you girls die young these days. Do you know how I’ve suffered with him?”
When she calmed down after cursing and threatening me, I told her, “You know my place, but do you know the places of these women too?”
Then I mentioned all of them one after the other, including Madam Operations. She knew Madam Operations. She called me mad. I told her, “If you really care about him, I won’t be the one to tell you this.”
Then I blocked her.
The chaos and drama that happened in the office the next day deserved to be seen with real eyes. His wife came to the office and mentioned names. Surprisingly, my name was missing from the list. She didn’t even know me like she had threatened.
For a whole week, the office came to a standstill.
Is There A Man Out There Who Doesn’t Cheat?
Madam Operations resigned. Her marriage is hanging in the balance. The national service lady couldn’t complete her service. The sales head stayed for a while but later resigned. She couldn’t withstand the silence as she walked by.
And that man at the centre of everything? He travelled out of the country, leaving his marriage behind.
All this came with a big lesson for me. If he’s cheating with you, he’s doing it with others too. You’re not that special. That was my last time being the other girl. I don’t even smile at married men or give them the chance to be kind to me.
I’ve seen enough to know what their kindness really means.
