Behind the calm faces of many Ghanaian men lies a quiet story we hardly ever tell. We’re raised to love sincerely, to pursue relationships with honesty, and to dream of building homes filled with loyalty and peace. When we fall in love, we give everything: Our time, our money, our hearts, and our dreams. We do all this because we believe we’re building a future together.

But somewhere along the way, we realise we’re not the only ones in the picture. There are secret chats with exes, late-night WhatsApp messages from “just friends,” hidden Snapchat stories, and Facebook conversations that don’t quite add up. Suddenly, the love we’ve been protecting feels like it’s being shared behind our backs.

Men invest. Men build. Men sacrifice. We help women grow, support their ambitions, with the hope that we’re shaping something real. Yet some of us find out too late that what meant the world to us was just a convenience to someone else. The love we took seriously was treated like an option.

A friend recently told me something painful. He found out that the woman he was dating was still in touch with her ex. When he gathered the courage to confront her, she lashed out and said, “He’s more of a man than you.”

Imagine that!

These kinds of discoveries are changing hearts. Many men are starting to believe that commitment has become too risky for the heart. That serious relationships and marriages are no longer sacred. They’ve become games where loyalty disappears at the first tempting offer.

Ask a hundred men if they truly trust their partners, and if they’re being completely honest, ninety-eight will say no.

Silent Beads, men also cry. Men also break. Men also lose faith. We’re not perfect, but we deserve loyalty. We deserve honesty and respect. Most importantly, we deserve the sacrifice we give in equal measure.

When men don’t get these things, they make resolutions. These days a man would choose to have a child or two, be a responsible father, but guard his heart and live his life. All because trust feels like glass — beautiful, but frighteningly fragile.

I understand that not all women are lost. Many are kind, faithful, and genuine. But we can’t dispute the fact that too many hearts are bleeding today because love has turned into a battlefield where only caution survives.

Women judge men easily. I hear the chants,

“Fear men.”

“Men will stain your white.”

“Fear who no fear men.”

The list of “accolades” goes on. It’s so easy to point fingers at men and call us names because we often keep quiet about our sufferings. So I am bringing it to light that there are men battling silent struggles because of the betrayal of women. There are men who love deeply and loudly but bleed silently. So don’t be quick to judge all of us based on the actions of a few bad nuts.

When you say a prayer tonight, pray for men. May God heal our broken hearts and restore in us the heart to love with purpose.
