It’s been a week and I haven’t been able to enter my room. A room I’ve rented with my own money and decorated with my own properties but I can’t enter just because I cheated on my girlfriend. My landlord lives with me. He says if I dare break into it again, I’ll have to change the whole door and he’ll also eject me from the house.

The lady I cheated with was someone we both know. It started as a friendship but along the way, feelings developed and we started dating on the side. My girlfriend, Amanda, suspected it and of course I denied it. I don’t know who in the lady’s house reported me to Amanda. I was in her house when Amanda called and I told her I was home. Minutes later, she was knocking on the lady’s door.

I wasn’t even doing anything ooo. We were just in her room watching TV and talking. She entered, looked at me and said, “Oh so now this is your home, right?”

She then walked out and I followed. I tried to stop her but she didn’t mind me. I went back to the lady’s room, explained the situation to her, picked up my bag and left. I went to Amanda’s house, she wasn’t there. I waited until evening, thinking she would come home very soon but she didn’t. She didn’t pick up my calls. I waited until I grew weary and left her house around 8pm.

I got to the house, inserted my keys but the keys wouldn’t go in. I looked at the key system very well and everything was new. I was like “Ah, did my landlord change my lock?”

I went to knock on his door and he came out. Immediately he saw me he said, “I’m even looking for you. Your girlfriend was here disturbing the whole house because your key was missing and you’d tasked her to change it. Do you know how much a door costs?”

I was lost. He said it was Amanda who changed the lock. I didn’t want to create an impression of chaos so I nodded and left. All evening and night Amanda didn’t pick up my calls. She didn’t stay in the house for me to see her so I had to sleep at a friend’s place.

I went home with a carpenter to change the lock but my landlord screamed, “Hey! What’s wrong with you? Was it not only yesterday that you changed it? Have you lost your keys again?”

I explained the issues to him honestly and apologized but he said, “You can’t destroy my property in the name of love. Your girlfriend is not dead. Look for her and get the keys. You won’t break into this one. If you do it on my blind spot and I find out, you’ll buy a new door before you pack your things out of my house.”

Amanda, it’s been a week. I’ve bought new trousers and shirts and even slippers so I can go to work. Why are you doing this to me? How long is this going to continue? Tell me it’s over and give me my keys because what is this? You won’t listen to my pleas. You’re playing hide and seek with me so how can we resolve this? I’m sitting in front of your door. I know you sneak in at night so today I will be here until you appear and we resolve this.
