When I shared my story, quite a number of people in the comments encouraged me to discuss it with my family. They said otherwise, I might not have a marriage to return to. I took their advice.
First, I called my sister and told her the entire truth about my marriage and why I had overstayed my welcome. Together, we called the family and explained everything to them.
His family came over after my family invited them, and they called me to share my side of the story. I did. It turned out that while I was worried about my daughter and wondering how she was doing, he had taken her and left her with one of his relatives at the family house.

There was no explanation as to why he did that or why I was not there with my child. Actually, he told them that I had travelled to visit my family because of an emergency. He said that was why I could not carry the child with me and that he was also too busy to take care of the child properly. Even his family members said they had planned to reprimand me when I was coming for the child because why would I leave such a young child to travel for an emergency when I didn’t even inform them?
At the end of my story, they opened their mouths in shock. They didn’t know he was the one who sacked me from the house. They have promised that they will get to the bottom of the matter, ensure peace is restored to the marriage, and make sure he gives me a proper apology. I am still sitting by the phone waiting for their call.
I suggested that I go back home. I didn’t get approval from my sister. My family is also insisting that I am not returning to our marital home until he calls me and agrees that he will no longer treat me any way. They have told me that if he cannot do that, they cannot allow me to remain in the marriage alone in the name of marriage.
But his family keeps speaking sweetly to my parents and telling them that I should come back to my marriage, that they will talk sense into him. This is not even the first time they have intervened whenever there is a serious misunderstanding between us. Whenever things get heated, his family steps in and somehow settles the matter.
Now that it has reached the point where I am packing out because I have told them I am not coming back into the marriage again, they are begging me not to do that. They keep saying they will talk to him and he will change. I don’t know when that change is coming.
My mother said something that has been ringing in my ears. “He will not change unless he drops that ego and sees his wrong. He’d keep on sacking you from that house. It will even graduate to something much worse. If he wants you, he would call you. Just wait”
The problem is that since both families got involved, he has not called me, let alone apologized.
Now, this is where I need advice. I have discovered that I am pregnant again. I don’t know what to do. If I let the cat out of the bag, his family will pour pressure down on me to return to the marriage, and they will sing that song for me: “For the children. The children need to grow in a two-parent household.” And learning what I am learning now, I know it would only give him the upper hand because he may think I am only coming back because of the pregnancy.
Is There A Man Out There Who Doesn’t Cheat?
No one knows that I am pregnant because I just found out. Please, I am here again asking for advice because I am honestly lost. I don’t keep many friends, and I remember some people asking in the comments whether I am working. I have a good business that runs well. I pay salaries. My husband even complains that I stay too long at work anytime I go to my office, as if he too doesn’t try to work his life away. What I don’t understand is how he always knows that I stayed late outside or why he is always complaining about the amount of time I spend at work.
Now, with this pregnancy, I honestly don’t know what to do. Should I tell his family and risk them using the pregnancy to convince me to go back to him? Or should I wait and see if he will call me, apologise, and show me that he is genuinely ready to change?
