I know this isn’t any of my business, but as a woman, I feel really sad about it. Here’s the thing, I live with my in-laws, me and my husband. After all I have seen so far, all I can say is that some men don’t deserve heaven at all.

My father-in-law is a chronic cheater. I mean, he’s the boss of bosses when it comes to cheating, and the worst part is that he doesn’t even hide it from his wife. He would sit by her and call his side chick. Sometimes he even sends her money while his wife is sitting there.

Meanwhile, everyone in the house knows that he barely gives his wife enough money to get by. In this Nigerian economy, he gives her only ₦4,000 for food each week. Even that, she gets the money on Wednesdays. So she struggles from Monday till then. After that, he gives her nothing again.

His side chick, on the other hand, benefits from his generosity. He spoils her rotten. He takes her out, buys her clothes, gives her money for her hair, and even gives her ₦5,000 just for food for two days. Can you imagine?

This man has never given his wife money to buy clothes. He maltreats her so much that she looks lean. I feel sad about this because my mother-in-law is a good woman. She treats me like her own daughter. Not once has she disrespected me or anyone in her life.

There have been so many times I’ve seen her crying, cursing the man, saying one day he will regret everything, and that by then, she won’t be there to stand by him. It breaks my heart.

She’s truly suffering. And to be honest, my biggest fear is that my husband might take after his father. Even though he’s not like that now, people do change, and I pray he never becomes that kind of man. Because me, I don’t have the strength to go through that kind of suffering.
