The first time I met Eva was in October 2023. I had gone to run some errands at East Legon and stopped by a shop to buy water. She was the attendant at the shop. I engaged her in a short conversation. She was warm and receptive. I liked her instantly. By the time I left the shop, I took her number and made sure she saved mine as well.

As I walked toward my destination, I thought about her. She was so warm and endearing, yet looked very much like a millennial baddie. By that, I mean what most people refer to as a “bad bi**h”. The kind you’d be scared to ask out on a date because you would feel she would empty your wallet. She has this aura, you can’t but notice her when she walks into a room. I mean how can you not? With the way her flamboyant fashion sense and ostentatious jewelry make her even more pulchritude.

What drew me to want to get to know her even better was our shared interest in reading and writing. Rarely do I meet people who match my interests in the literary field. With this in common, we never run out of things to talk about. It was one of my favourite things to do, engaging her in discourse. She is an avid reader and prolific writer. So I follow her on all her social media pages. Just so I could enjoy her poetry and hilarious memes.

The second time I saw her, it was at the same shop we met the first time. I was going to the same place I went to the first time, and decided to stop by her shop for some water and snacks. She was looking even more beautiful this time around. She wore a colourful crop top with a body-con skirt. It outlined her curves, and “akɔnɔ akɔnɔ” (desirable) skin.

Unlike the first time, we vibed even more, shared jokes, and opinions on trending matters. She’s so eloquent and brilliant. The next day, I asked her out on a date so we could chat more about life and its related issues. I told her to pick a day and time that works for her. I asked her, “What do you like to do for fun?” I asked so I would know how to plan our outing. In terms of where to take her and what activities we should do.

She answered, “I like to eat, watch movies, and go sit at the beach.” Kyerɛ sɛ, ɔyɛ chilling lady ankasa. “This lady seems like the life of the party,” I thought. I wanted her to have fun when we finally go out so I told her we could do all the three things she enjoys doing. “We can dedicate an entire day to our date. We will first go see a movie at the Cinema, then we will have lunch at a local restaurant, and then proceed to the beach to catch the sunset and enjoy some sea breeze.” She, of course, agreed to the plan. We scheduled the date for one Sunday.

When the date arrived, we met at 10 am at the Silverbird cinema at the Accra mall. That was the start of our day. We had so much fun going through the day. She was not at all the baddie I thought she was. Eva turned out to be shy and very introverted. The more we spoke the more I realized she was a good girl. She just likes to dress wild.

You know how they say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover? This was the case. She is so adorable and reserved. She kept attempting to pay some of the bills wherever we went, but I strongly objected to it. She would say, “Let me pay the bill for this one.” Or “Let’s split the bill for this one.” She insisted but I was also strong in my refusal. After all the fun we had at the cinema, the restaurant, and the beach, I finally dropped her off at home at 10:45 pm.

On my way home, I received a Mobile Money notification. When I checked, it was money from her. She said that was her token to cover some of the expenses I made during the day. I was so touched, and all the same flummoxed. I asked myself, “Eeii so these types of ladies actually exist?” Ladies and gentlemen, I believe I have found my soulmate. I am excited to see how things will unfold between us. You should all wish me luck so that I will come back with an exciting update.
