I travelled out of town for three months. I was missing her and the things we used to do. Calls couldn’t replace the sound of her voice. Video calls couldn’t replace her presence. Text messages couldn’t do what whispers did when we were together. I pleaded with her to send nudes which she declined. Not once and not twice. Finally, I came back to take over from where we left off.

That was six months ago. Recently,  I was working on her laptop when a message came through. Her WhatsApp was opened on the browser. I pretended I hadn’t seen the message. I was there reading while she stayed on the sofa exchanging messages.

The guy is in the UK. He sends her money but before the money comes, my girlfriend has to send the pinky part of her flesh before the guy will send it. She sends photos in different positions. She sends videos while doing things to herself. I didn’t deserve a single photo of such nature but she rains it on this guy.

The guy is coming this December. They are making plans. She would meet him at the airport. They’ll spend the weekend in Accra. Later, he’ll take her to meet his parents. She has already met my parents and I’ve met hers. I got the list two months ago and she’s the same person helping me to buy the things on the list so we can marry early next year. I don’t know who she’s lying to, me or him.

I haven’t said anything to her. I have screenshots. I’ll wait for the guy to come in December. If I leave, I’ll ensure she loses the guy too because I’ll tell him everything. Again, all the things I’ve bought so far, I’ll find a way to take my money back from her. The day I’ll announce that it’s over, her parents will ask why. I’ll only send them the screenshots so they see what their daughters can show the world when she’s alone.

The most difficult thing for me now is how to hide my anger and bitterness until December. I’m not good at pretending. It seeps through occasionally, and she asks if everything is OK. I tell her all is well. I pray for strength and calm. I can do this.
