My wife is an amazing cook. That’s one thing I have always loved about her. She always knew how to satisfy me with her delicious meals. There was nothing she cooked that didn’t go down well with me. This is one of the reasons I married her.

Apart from her magical cooking skills, she is very beautiful. Add that to her kind heart and respectful attitude and there goes the perfect woman for me.

We have three beautiful children together. Just like me, our kids have grown to fall in love with my wife’s cooking. Unfortunately, this same cooking has become a family problem.

Last year, my wife developed a taste for hot pepper. She puts too much pepper in every food she makes. I don’t like spicy food. Neither do the kids. She knows this but it doesn’t guide her actions in the kitchen.

When she cooks, the kids and I struggle to eat amidst runny noses. “Honey, reduce the amount of pepper you add to our food.” I have said this to her several times but our situation remains the same.

Almost everything we eat at home is spicy; soups, stews, name them. I see my kids struggle to eat their meals every day and it makes me sad. She wasn’t like this when I met her so I don’t know what changed. When we go to the market to buy groceries, she buys fresh pepper in olonka quantities. Who needs to buy bowls of pepper when shopping for a household of five?

The fact that I get heartburn when I eat her food hasn’t changed things either. So I am forced to buy food from outside these days. My question is, how long will I continue eating out? I need a solution that will last but I don’t know what else to do to get my wife to listen to me.
