I didn’t like the long distance and the stress her work was putting her through at all. So, I did what I thought was the next possible thing. I asked her to resign from the job, offered to pay her salary, and move in with me.

I love her. One thing about love is that you don’t watch the person you love suffer when you believe you can help.

She didn’t just leave everything at once and follow me. We discussed it, came to certain terms, and eventually, she moved in with me.

That was in February. I haven’t always been able to keep up with the promise of paying her salary, but I have still supported her in many other ways. I take care of the house, and I have even taken care of her children.

Time has come and gone, and so have new revelations about her.

For instance, she lied about her age. She gave me what I would call a “football age.”

When she first came to live with me, she was very active around the house. She did her chores, and I liked her lifestyle and attitude. But now, it has become a very ugly story.

She took me by surprise a few days ago when she announced that she was going back home and returning to the same job I had asked her to resign from.

I have been questioning myself. Have I failed her? Apart from not being consistent with the allowance I promised her, I don’t see where I have fallen short of her or failed to give her the kind of life she deserves.

Where? In the kitchen? In the bedroom?

I can’t help but feel like she is being ungrateful for everything I have done for her.

And the love I have for her is slowly fading too. That is why I don’t want to beg her to stay or ask her for another chance. All I want now is to see her go.

I want to compensate her with some money so she has the chance to stand on her own feet properly. If we are going to part ways, I want us to do it with dignity.

But deep inside, I keep wondering if this is truly the right decision. Now she wants to go back to the life she had before me, and I am left wondering whether I was wrong to interfere in the first place. If it were you, what would your decision be?
