It’s 1:15 a.m., and I’m sitting at the beach writing this.

For the past two months, we’ve slept here at the beach at least four times a week. We leave our cozy bed and drive for close to an hour just to come to this beach and sleep.

Yeah, we’ve changed beaches. We’ve tried three different beaches before finally settling on this one because, according to my wife, this place smells like a real traditional beach and has the kind of air she wants.

Just last week, a group of guys nearly attacked us because they thought I had brought my wife to the beach to sacrifice her for money, judging by the time they found us.

My wife was peacefully sleeping on a white bedsheet we had spread on the sand. Maybe they thought she was dead and that I was responsible.

Their loud shouting and the commotion woke my wife up, and she explained why we were there before the guys finally left us in peace.

My wife is eight months pregnant, and it’s only the scent of the beach and the sound of the waves that help her sleep.

I used to play recordings of ocean waves for her at home to help her sleep. She said the sound was okay, but it lacked the smell of the beach. Since I couldn’t bring the beach smell into our bedroom, we had to relocate to the beach.

I can’t sleep. I’m scared something might happen to us while we’re here, so for the past two months, I haven’t had a good night’s sleep.

I can’t complain. I just want peace. I don’t want her to cry or become frustrated because I refused to bring her to the beach. So whenever she asks, I pick up the pillows and bedsheets, and I drive her here.

I’m even scared we’re going to have a marine baby.

It’s not an easy journey.
