I visited a church for the first time one day, and this young pastor who preached that day approached me. He said he hadn’t seen me in church before, and I told him it was my first time. He asked if I enjoyed the service, and I told him I did. “Especially the preaching. It was like you were speaking to me.”

He smiled. He asked for my number and also gave me his. He called the next day and said he would like to meet. I asked what for, and he said to get to know me and become my first friend in the church.

We didn’t meet immediately. We talked on the phone and saw each other in church several times until one day, I decided to give the meeting a try and see where it would go. He dressed nicely and drove a very nice car. After meeting him, he drove me home.

I loved the fact that he wasn’t trying to keep things secret. So when he proposed and said he wanted me to become his “wife,” I asked him to give me some time to think about it. A week later, I said yes, and then, almost in a whisper, he said, “Nobody should know until we receive a confirmation from the Holy Spirit.”

I agreed but decided to do my own checks. He had three girlfriends, and he had told them the same thing: “Nobody should know until we receive a confirmation from the Holy Spirit.” One of the girls became his girlfriend just a day before I had accepted his proposal. She’s Sarfoa. When I showed her my chat with the pastor, she was shocked. She said he had chased her for almost three months, and both of them had prayed and fasted over the relationship before she said yes.

We had a plan, not to embarrass him but to let him know we knew his game plan. He was supposed to visit me, but Sarfoa called to tell him she wanted to see him that very moment. He told Sarfoa he had a secret prayer meeting with the warriors, so he couldn’t meet her. He entered my house around 9:00 p.m. only to see Sarfoa with me.

“Welcome to the secret prayer meeting with the warriors,” Sarfoa said.

He froze for a while. We all kept quiet and watched him. Sarfoa asked, “You can’t talk? Tell the truth. Is it God who called you, or you decided to go even though you haven’t been called?”

He stood still, shook his head, and turned around to leave. I was just laughing, but Sarfoa crossed his path and asked him to answer the questions. He said, “I have nothing to say. Let me go.”

It was a battle between the two of them. I was scared it would cause a scene, so I kept asking Sarfoa to let him go. A man can have the anointing and still misbehave despite the anointing.

I pulled Sarfoa away, and he drove off. The next morning, he called me to ask why we did that. He said, “You see why I came for you even though there’s Sarfoa in my life? Didn’t you see her behavior? Do you think she’s a woman a pastor should date? Just forget about her. It’s you my spirit says I should date.”

I was shocked that he could have the courage to say all that to me, thinking I didn’t know the truth between him and Sarfoa. I told him to concentrate on the gospel and leave women alone because, obviously, that area wasn’t his calling.

Sarfoa left the church, but of course she wouldn’t leave without causing a ripple. She sent screenshots to the church groups and said, “This is the man you call a pastor.”

And guess what? After her screenshots, other women found their voices to say he had done the same thing to them.

I didn’t leave the church. I’m still there. He went on a long break and later came back to church with an apology. He’s still here. He still preaches the Word to the church, and I still enjoy his preaching regardless.
