In late 2019, I took a loan from a bank to start a business. The interest was high, but according to the projections I had made, I should be able to import the goods, sell them within three months, make a profit, and repay the loan.

The plan was perfect, though my wife was skeptical about it. Her fear wasn’t about the business but about the loan and the interest on it. “What if things don’t go according to plan?” she asked. I answered, “It’s a perfect plan. It will work.”
I placed the order from China, and the goods kept delaying because China was going through COVID. At that time, COVID wasn’t worldwide, so the company kept sending emails, promising that once things stabilized, they would send my goods. The goods didn’t come, and then COVID became worldwide.
Borders and airspaces were shut. The world was locked up in its room. There went my dreams and everything that came with them. I didn’t sleep well. Every knock on the door got me scared. The interest on the loan kept rising. To make matters worse, I had nothing left in my account because I had cleaned everything out and put it into the business.
My wife would look at my worried face and say, “We are Christians. We turn to God in prayers when we are faced with afflictions like this.”
She went to work and left the kids with me. She was a front-liner then, so she went to work while I stayed in the house. I was devastated, especially when I saw a call from people I had made promises to. One afternoon, while my wife was away and the kids were asleep, I went to the toilet, closed the door, and started crying. That was the only thing I could afford at that moment: tears.
When I walked out, I saw a message from my wife; “Look inside your bible.” I picked up my Bible, opened it, and saw a paper that looked like a page marker. I picked it up and it was a cheque in my name. It was from my wife. She had highlighted a quotation where she had placed the cheque: Isaiah 41:10.
I looked at the amount on the cheque and read the quotation over and over again. I smiled. I sobbed. I felt not alone. She was at work, but I could hear her voice echoing in my head, “We are Christians. We turn to God in prayers when we are faced with afflictions like this.”
That was one of the moments I felt deeply loved. I was down and scared. I had even thought she had deserted me because I didn’t listen to her when she expressed fears about the business. When she came home, I said thank you. She answered, “You’re not alone. God will take care of the rest.”
She Would Introduce Me To Rich Men Who’ll Give Me Money
Only God knows what that amount did for me. It took so long—very long I had even given up. But finally, when the goods arrived, everything else went according to plan.
