We were both in serious relationships when we met on a fun trip. My boyfriend should have been on that trip but had to cancel due to work. My younger sister took his place. Prosper sat next to me because we were supposed to sit with someone we didn’t know so we could get to know them.

Before we started talking, he said, “Let me declare my assets first so you don’t get me wrong. I have a girlfriend. She should have been here but couldn’t make it because of a family situation.”

I smiled and told him why my boyfriend also couldn’t join and pointed to my sister, “That’s my sister right there. She came to monitor my activities and report them to my boyfriend.”

Once we got this out of the way, the conversation became honest and detailed. We talked about our individual relationships and shared stories of crazier things we’d done with our partners. It didn’t go deep—just the normal fun stuff.

On the trip, we did everything as a team because that was the purpose of the whole trip, and the reason we sat together was to bond. We were so free people thought we were an actual couple. After the trip, we exchanged contacts and went our separate ways. The only time we talked to each other was when he got home and texted to thank me for the companionship. I thanked him too, and it ended there.

During COVID, I posted on my timeline that I needed nose masks and face shields in bulk quantities. He responded, “How many do you want?”

We hadn’t said anything meaningful to each other for over a year. He brought the items to my place and didn’t take a penny from me. Those were the times when face shields were like gold and nose masks cost a kidney’s worth. He said, “I’ve imported more on the way, so in case you need more.”

We became business partners. When I had friends who needed the items, I collected them from him and sold them to my friends. Though I added profit, he also gave me a commission. One day, he asked about my boyfriend, and I told him we didn’t work out. He screamed, “Wow, someone let you go? A woman like you?”

I explained how it happened—the fights, the insecurity, how we could go for days without talking to each other. He told me, “These things are normal in every relationship. If there’s a reason to stick together, you rely on those reasons to carry on.”

His girlfriend had also traveled abroad and had gotten stuck because of COVID. He spoke bitterly about their challenges, but he told me it was the least of their problems, so they’d get over it when she was back in the country.

We kept doing business and kept meeting to account for what we’d sold. He convinced me to invest in the next consignment so I could earn more than just selling and getting commissions. I did, but unfortunately, by the time the items arrived, COVID wasn’t biting like it used to, so demand had gone down drastically. The items didn’t sell no matter how drastically we lowered the prices.

One day, he gave me a cheque—an amount more than I had invested. He told me, “It was my fault you invested. You don’t have to lose. That’s your money and a little extra. I know how to manage.”

That same day, he told me his girlfriend had locked down with a man and had confessed to cheating. They were trying to get through it, but according to him, he didn’t think it would work because his girlfriend had intentionally done what she did. “Even the confession was intentional,” he said. “She’s sending a message, and I’ve gotten the message.”

I wished him well and said I was praying for him. We didn’t talk much after that, but one night we stayed on the phone until dawn. At the end, he told me, “If we can stay on the phone for this long, then why don’t we get married? It’s obvious we want to keep talking.”

I laughed. I asked if that was a proposal, and he retorted, “It’s a marriage proposal. Let’s get married tomorrow. It’s COVID. We only need a few people around.”

He wasn’t joking. We got married in two months, even before we could have our first kiss. We thought we were going to do it at the altar, but the pastor said kissing had been banned because of COVID, so we shook hands and hugged. But when we retired to bed that night, our lips stayed locked until we fell asleep.

My Wife Has The Spiritual Powers To Detect Cheating

He’s currently a partner in everything. We run three businesses and have two children. His ex came back home to try to derail us with flimsy accusations, but we looked at her and laughed her off. Today, we are happy. Though we don’t say it out loud, we’re thankful it didn’t work with our exes so we could find ourselves in this bliss.
