My husband was in the bathroom bathing while his phone was on charge. Every now and then, the phone’s screen would light up to show an incoming notification. I checked. They were messages from a lady named Konadu. The way he had set his phone up, you can see the notification but can’t read the message. It comes like, “Konadu has sent you a message.”
It was around 9 p.m. and I wondered why a lady would message my husband at that time. I didn’t know his password so I couldn’t read but I was anxious. I picked up his phone, went to stand at the door of the bathroom and said, “Hello Konadu. This is the wife speaking. Why are you sending my husband these kind of photos at this time of the night?”
The bathroom door flung open and my husband stepped out naked with his arms stretched, “Give me my phone. How did you get to know my password? How did you open my phone? Give it to me.” I tried hiding the phone but this man jumped on me with his wet skin and snatched the phone from my hand.
He was screaming, “How did you know my password and who asked you to go through my phone? I was sitting on the floor looking at him while he entered the bathroom with his phone. When he realized I hadn’t gone through his phone, he came out with a smile. He said, “Don’t you dare pull that joke on me again. What’s that?”
I didn’t say a word. I got up and went to the hall to watch TV. He came to sit next to me trying hard to pick a conversation. The only question I asked was, “Who is Konadu and why did her name make you behave the way you did?” He answered, “She’s a colleague. I knew you were lying when you said photos because she won’t send me photos.”
He was lying. He couldn’t even look at my face while explaining. I said, “You’re cheating, right? No problem but use condoms so you don’t bring diseases home to us. My kids are young.”
My husband doesn’t talk to me again because he said I’ve insulted him. He called my mom and dad to tell them that I had no respect for him. My parents asked me to apologize to him. I told them, “I won’t apologize until he proves me wrong. If he’s not cheating, he should show me the messages the lady sent to him that night.”

I still stand by what I said and I won’t apologize today or tomorrow until he proves me wrong. He can decide not to talk to me forever, I don’t care but I won’t allow him to bully me into submission.
Am I wrong to demand proof from him? Am I stretching the issues too far instead of offering a simple apology? I want to know.

My dear the best way to get evidence is to apologise. By doing this he will think he has won and will let his guard down. Then that will be the moment to act. But my dear after all these what will you do? If I were you I will let him go. If he is innocent time will tell . But if he is not that very same time will tell. Live your life as if you have no suspicion. If your husband is guilty he will change or he will come clean to you. Mind you apologising when one has done no wrong does not make you a fool. It restores peace.

You are not ready to listen to your parents who have gotten lots of experience in life, how much more do you want from us? After accepting the fact that you will not apologize to him, you come back to ask this

You are not wrong, you aren’t stretching anything, Do whatever pleases your ego and your stupidity. When the marriage collapses and you reach your smoothness level, you’ll hail your parent’s counsel. Generation of fools. We think we are wiser than those who came before us.
